Texas Tech Fans Can Celebrate Football Season At The 65th Annual Tech Knight

If you're a long-term Red Raider fan, then you probably already know about Tech Knight. If you don't, hang on, because you're missing out.

Tech Knight is the Knights of Columbus' annual kickoff to the Texas Tech football season. It's now in its 65th year, and it features just about everything a Red Raider fan could want.

Let's start with the fact that Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire will be there, along with General Manager James Blanchard and Associate Athletic Director Antonio Huffman.

If Huffman's name sounds familiar, then congratulations—you probably remember him from the Mike Leach era. Huffman was a three-year starter at defensive back for the Red Raiders from 2004 through 2006. He finished his Tech career with 189 tackles, four interceptions and 25 pass breakups before eventually returning to the program in an administrative role.

So, the deck is already stacked.

Tech Knight Has The Full Red Raider Experience

But wait, things get better.

There's dinner, the Goin' Band from Raiderland and the Texas Tech Spirit Squad. Basically, you're getting much of what you'd want from a giant Red Raider pep rally, and they're feeding you, too. Dinner will feature pulled pork sandwiches with all the fixings.

The 65th Annual Tech Knight is coming up Saturday, August 29, at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 4702 130th Street in Lubbock. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with dinner available until 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25, while kids 12 and under get in free.

It's basically the unofficial signal that it's time to quit talking about the offseason and start getting fired up about Texas Tech football.
