Lubbock Community Theater Presents ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ This Weekend
I'm truly excited about this production.
Lubbock Community Theater is putting on Little Shop of Horrors.
I hope you guys are familiar with the play or one of the two movies. It's actually pretty simple: a flower shop assistant discovers that one of the plants has a taste for human flesh and blood. As the plant gets bigger and bigger, more people come to the store...and the plant gets hungrier.
Little Shop of Horrors was originally a 1960 movie, most notable for a quick performance by a very young Jack Nicolson. In 1986, the musical version came along starring Rick Moranis, Steve Martin, Bill Murray and others.
So why should I get so excited about this play? Well, first off, it's so unique and cool. Second, I know the man behind the plant, Dylan Avant.
Avant serves as "The Collector," our master of ceremonies at Nightmare On 19th Street. I've seen him transform night after night into a madman, so transforming into a giant talking plant is right up his alley. They both like the taste of flesh and blood, so what's the difference?
The play will run from May 20th through May 22nd, and May 27th through May 29th. Showtime for Friday and Saturday nights is 7:30 p.m., with a 2:30 p.m. matinee performance on Sunday.
The Lubbock Community Theater now seats about 150 so you can be comfortable and bring all your friends. The theater is located at 3101 35th Street. Tickets can be purchased here.
