Are you King or Queen of the Cosplayers? Think you can beat ME? Well, you're certainly welcome to try. Here are the most important things to know for this year's Lubbock-Con cosplay contest.

1. It needs to be original. This is both a literal rule and good advice to win. To enter, your cosplay must be at least 70 percent originally created -- either sewn, modified, hot-glued, repurposed, etc. It cannot be a store-bought costume or cosplay. The more "original" your idea is, and the more effort you put into it, really shows to judges and improves your odds of winning.

2. Be where you need to be. It would be pretty dumb if you missed your chance because you weren't where you were supposed to be, right?

Contestants must register day of at the signups table. Contestants must attend pre-judging to proceed to the public portion of the Cosplay Contest. Event staff reserves the right to limit the number of contestants at pre-judging due to time constraints or other concerns. Be sure to arrive on time and ready to be called. Do not arrive late to the public portion of the Cosplay Contest event. If you are not present at the start of the contest, your entry will be disqualified.

3. Don't be nude or gross or offensive. It's against the rules, and also not a good way to win.

There are a few more things you need to know to really knock it out of the park. You can read up on everything at Lubbock Con's contest rule page. And don't forget to get your tickets so you can enter! It's going to be a great time with fabulous guests, a fantastic kid's area, vendors, artists and more!
