The Wildest Rumors That Shaped High School In Lubbock

There are a few things every high school has: questionable cafeteria food, at least one teacher everyone talks about, and rumors that spread faster than wildfire in a West Texas windstorm. And in true Lubbock fashion, some of these stories were so ridiculous they somehow became more believable the longer they stuck around.

We asked Lubbock what the juiciest rumor was at your high school, and honestly…y’all did not disappoint.

Some of the most common answers? Teacher and coach "relationships." Apparently, no matter what school you went to or the year you graduated, there's always that one faculty relationship that everyone can't stop gabbing over.

Then there were the deeply personal rumors, some of which could have been pretty harmful, like "____ is pregnant!" That was a big one at my school, and clearly everyone else's. Multiple people shared stories about hearing wild things about themselves that were totally made up, including secret babies, double lives, and some really epic post-graduation careers that 100% never happened. One person even found out they became a stripper, despite literally leaving for Army basic training directly after graduation. Imagine that!

No high school rumor list is complete without a few absolutely unhinged urban legends; Lubbock delivered on a few of those. From the classic Marilyn Manson rib rumor to mysterious "incidents" in nearby towns that nobody could ever confirm, we had our fair share of ridiculousness.
