One thing I know about spring weather in Lubbock—it doesn’t stick around long enough to get comfortable. One minute it feels like summer showed up early, the next we’re back in that classic West Texas swing between the 60s and 80s.

It might feel unpredictable, but this is actually pretty standard for the Hub City. March typically kicks off with highs in the mid-60s, and by the time we roll into May, we’re regularly flirting with the 80s. That steady climb, mixed with sudden jumps and dips, is just part of the deal. And of course, spring also doubles as “wind season”—even if, let’s be honest, that feels like a year-round title in Lubbock.

There’s also the rain factor. Spring is technically one of the wetter times of the year here, even if that doesn’t always mean soaking, steady rainfall. Instead, we get those quick-hitting, pop-up storms—sometimes intense, sometimes gone before you even process what just happened. With an 80% chance of rain in the forecast this weekend, we could very well see that play out again.

So what’s the takeaway? Even when it feels like the weather’s acting strange, it’s mostly staying within its usual lane. We had a brief early heat wave that threw things off, but now we’re settling back into what passes for “normal” in Lubbock—constant motion, a little chaos, and just enough unpredictability to keep things interesting.
