The Most Honest Review Of Living In Lubbock
If you've lived here for a while, you probably know that Lubbock doesn't do a whole lot to impress anybody. We aren't Austin. We aren't Dallas. We're nothing like them at all. We don't have beaches, mountains, or a particularly impressive skyline, but maybe that's all just part of our charm.
Let's start with the good stuff...

The best thing about living here is that the city is both big and small at the same time. Lubbock has most of the major outlets and chain restaurants without the bumper-to-bumper traffic that comes with living in a big city. We are a city of convenience. Everything is just a 10 or 15-minute drive from you.
The people here are a big plus. Yes, you'll run into someone you know from elementary school every time you go to Walmart, but is that really so bad? People in Lubbock are very friendly and always ready to help their neighbor when things get wonky.
Now, for a few not-so-glamorous things about Lubbock...

Entertainment here can sometimes require major creativity. If you're looking for endless options for nightlife, we just don't have them. Your best bet is grabbing a beer at one of our hole-in-the-wall bars. Take your pick. There is no shortage.

The flat landscape isn't much on the eyes. We have basically zero scenic views here worth writing home about, unless maybe you count watching the sunset from the roof of a parking garage. Not too shabby, but certainly nothing special.
Overall, I give us a thumbs up.

Lubbock is much more affordable than flashy, easy to navigate, and full of people who genuinely care about their community. So what if we don't have much in the way of entertainment, and we rotate going to the same 12 restaurants year-round?
We love you, Lubbock.

Living here isn't perfect, but neither is living anywhere else. Still, we do pretty well while also lacking the chaos you'll find in larger places, and most of us like it that way. It's comfy, familiar, and just weird enough to stay interesting. Maybe that's better than living somewhere that's always trying to be the next big thing.
