The Trends Lubbock Wishes It Could Unfollow Immediately
Do you have any regrets about that bad haircut in your prom photos? What about the tattoo you got to match all your friends when you were 21 in Mexico? Think about all of the trends you've jumped on and inevitably left in the past. Sometimes, we make mistakes when it comes to hopping on the latest bandwagon.
Several regrettable trends have made their way to Lubbock over the years.
Fitness
Take fitness trends. At some point, half the city convinced itself that CrossFit was a personality. Three weeks in, everyone was limping through United like they just survived a cattle drive. The same goes for keto. Sure, it worked…until you started thinking about all the dirty things you'd do for a tortilla...
Style
Then there were the appearance choices. Frosted tips? Lubbock lit that trend up like a West Texas sunset. Fake tanning before a big event? Let’s just say some folks looked less “sun-kissed” and more “traffic cone chic” in family photos. And don’t even get us started on the quarantine mustaches. A lot of those should’ve stayed in quarantine.

Technology
Of course, technology didn’t help. People bought hoverboards, rode them exactly once (usually into a curb), jumped into NFTs like they were oil investments, and briefly treated TikTok dances like Olympic qualifiers... until a pulled hamstring said otherwise.
Bizarre Trends
And then there are the truly questionable phases: the “no shampoo” era (bold choice in 100-degree heat), Crocs with socks becoming everyday wear, and turning energy drinks into a lifestyle instead of a cry for help.
