Westside Pizza is soon joining the ranks of permanently closed pizza joints (6616 Milwaukee Avenue). The business made the unfortunate announcement on their Facebook page:

Regretfully…. WE ARE CLOSING!
Our business hours will be as follows until we officially close on the 20th of this month.
Mon-Friday 4pm-10pm
Sat-Sun. 11am-10pm
Thank you Lubbock and all of our loyal customers. It’s been a pleasure serving you!
Everything will be for sale including our 10 franchise licenses for West Texas.
This is a heartbreaker for me, as we had an absolute blast at Westside Pizza's "Death By Pizza" challenges. I have never personally seen anyone win the competition, although I know at least one person bested that beast of a pizza.
Lubbock's Westside Pizza was the only location in Texas. After this week, if you want Westside's delicious pizza, you'll have to travel to California, Idaho, or Utah.

Westside Pizza joins other fallen pizza joints like both locations of 1000 Degrees Pizza and Urban Bricks.

Westside Pizza did not give a reason for the closure, but we all know what an extremely difficult few years it has been for locally owned, small businesses.

Rising costs, difficulty finding employees, and folks limiting their food budgets have all combined to spell disaster for many local eateries.

If you never tried Westside Pizza, I recommend you do this week. Their pizza is made with fresh, never frozen ingredients and this location is owned by the nicest folks.

The pizza is delicious, and the Raspberry Blasters are my favorite pizza-place dessert ever. Do yourself a favor and try it, while you still can.
