I guess I owe one to the haters out there, they always inspire me to rise about their ignorance. As a matter of fact, one of the themes in this blog is directly from a response I posted to an earlier post.  The point is, progress can not be stopped. Even a rock, when placed in the wind will change.

I decided long ago that I could either move to a cooler place, or make the place I live cooler (many of my friends have heard this particular phrase from me over and over).  Now you can debate what is "cool" all day, let me just say, I decided I wasn't going to settle for Lubbock had to offer. I was going to work my butt off to keep the radio rocking', to keep the concerts coming and to offer people anything I could "outside of the box".  One of my greatest achievements, with the help of hundreds of like-minded Lubbock folks, is Nightmare On 19th Street.  Thousands and thousands each year come out to enjoy something that is truly different and wasn't offered on this scale before. Soon, in the next ten days or so, I will almost certainly make an announcement about a very unique bar my partner and I are considering opening.  You see, unlike most folks, I don't just sit around and complain about things, I work for change and put my money where my mouth is.

I don't even understand the people who don't want Lubbock to grow and thrive.  Things exist in two states, they are either growing or dying, there is no "just being".  I mentioned in an earlier blog that it sucks that when people fly into Lubbock that the first thing people see are run down business, junkyards and the like. Well, first I get the morons who don't have any reading comprehension skills that assume from just the headline that I have some kind of problem with the way looks overall. Next I get the "if you don't like it, leave" crowd and they bring conversations to new levels of stupidity.  These are the folks I want to focus on.  Imagine if in pioneer days someone said, "this Lubbock could be a good place with a new town hall" and some moron next to him said "if you don't like it, leave", or if somebody suggested a University, or the Loop, or a Mall, or ANYTHING, and the idiot next to them said, "if you don't like it the way it is, leave".  I have a better answer, if you don't like progress, leave. Head out to a  shack in some podunk town and MAYBE you can miss some of the progress the world has to offer.

Special Disclaimer: My name, at least the one on air, is Wes Nessman. These are not the thoughts of "FMX", "FMX" is a radio station and a brand. It has no brain and it does not know how to write. The opinions reflected in blogs like this are RARELY even mentioned on air. To you trolls, I don't care if you ever frequent my businesses (because that's the first threat they make), I build these places to get away from miserable people like you.  I am a blood donor  (nearing three gallons) and I like to donate my time and money to various animal charities. I donate a HUGE chunk of money to a free community trick or treat. I take care of my friends and family.  So, before you get red faced and start bashing out some response to this, tell me, what do you do, other than try to bring other people down with your snide remarks, to make your world a better place? And to my many fans and customers, thank you for helping Lubbock grow, thrive and be cooler by the day.
