Reports say that a Lubbock woman was shot and seriously injured after she attempted to follow 5 suspects involved in vehicle burglaries.

Lubbock Police say they responded to the 6100 block of 76th Street a little after 11 p.m. on Thursday, March 25th to reports of shots fired. As officers were on the way there, they received another call regarding a gunshot victim in the 3600 block of 77th Drive.

The victim was identified as 47-year-old Stephanie Miller, and she was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries after officers arrived and located her on the scene.

Police have determined that at some point during the night, Miller watched around 5 unknown suspects burglarizing vehicles in the 3600 block of 77th Drive. 3 separate vehicle burglaries were reported in the area between 10-11 p.m. Miller decided to get in her vehicle and follow the suspects after the fled the scene. That's when she says the suspects starting shooting at her.

So far, the suspects have yet to be identified and no arrests have been made. Anyone who may have any information, especially video capturing these vehicle burglaries, is asked to call Detective Joe Comacho at 806-775-2430, Detective Charlene Jennings at 806-775-2422 or Crime Line at 741-1000.

Lubbock Police is reminding citizens that if you witness a crime in progress to gather as much identifying information about the possible suspects as you can and to call 911 instead of confronting them.
