The holiday season is not just for us humans. What dog doesn't enjoy winning treats and getting their picture taken? If you have a dog, or if you've been thinking about getting a dog, the upcoming 12th Annual Santa Paws event will be hosted at the Hodges Community Center on Saturday, December 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Hodges Community Center is located at 41st and University Avenue. Admission into the Santa Paws even is free, but there will be things to purchase, so bring some money.

Bring your pet to Santa Paws on Saturday, December 11 and get a picture with Santa. You can even bring the whole family and get a family portrait done. Each picture will cost $5 and it's exact cash only. The City of Lubbock is warning people to be patient with Santa as there has been record breaking attendance for Santa Paws in previous years. One year saw 900 people and 500 pets that came out to see Santa at Santa Paws at the Hodges Community Center.

There will also be local vendors set up with information and giveaways. There will be a silent auction and raffle for family passes, spay/neuter gift cards, and more. The City of Lubbock also announced there will be prizes for the best dressed dog and the first fifty families will get a treat bag for their pet. All pets must be kept on a leash and have proof of vaccinations.

According to a press release you will also be able to adopt and get your pet microchipped.

City of Lubbock Animal Services will be available during this event to provide microchips for your dogs at no cost, just bring an ID.  Microchipping is a permanent way to ensure that your pets can be identified should they ever become lost.  Animal Services will also be bringing animals that are available for free adoptions!

Don't miss out on Santa Paws on Saturday, December 11.
