The highly-anticipated Lubbock location of Velvet Taco is opening on Monday, March 29th, 2021 at 2401 Glenna Goodacre Blvd. That's across from Texas Tech University near other foodie favorites like Spanky's.

Velvet Taco is a Texas-based brand originating in Dallas, so I already stan them, but looking through their menu my mouth has started watering. Of course, every location's menu will have slight variations, but I'm very excited to try the Green Chili Pork, the Shrimp 'n Grits, and the Fried Paneer tacos. There's even all-day brunch tacos that feature some of breakfast's best flavors like bacon and brisket.

Clearly, Velvet Taco hasn't limited themselves to the usual ground beef and shredded chicken only options you find at so many other places.

Here's how Velvet Taco describes their variety:

Velvet Taco is a temple to the liberated taco. We’re a one-of-a-kind taco concept serving premium food in a unique & funky fast-casual setting. Founded on the idea that tacos don’t have to be associated with Tex-Mex cuisine and can be made with the same care and quality ingredients as fine dining, Velvet Taco is where “anything goes meets the art of the possible.

Velvet Taco is known beyond their taco selections for having an incredible bar with regionally favorite drinks like Margaritas, Palomas, and Ranch Water, which is a blend of Topo Chico, Tequila and lime has quickly become my warmer weather favorite this year. I'm thrilled to try their version. Of course, I won't be sleeping on those margaritas or Palomas, either.

Welcome to Lubbock, Velvet Taco.
