Lubbock’s Rock Station Celebrates 42 Years Thanks To You

This week FMX turned 42 years old.

It is a truly mind-boggling achievement for any radio station to last this long. It is even more unheard of for a rock radio station to last this long. So many of you came from places where legendary stations, seemed like they'd always be there up and disappeared.

This type of tenure is due to two things, the fans, and the station continues to deliver on those fans' expectations. Yes, we've followed trends, but only when we saw that was where our audience was taking us. We helped make the old school classic rock classic, and made it through the years of new wave, heavy metal, hair metal, grunge, nu-metal and so much more.

You may have noticed that we didn't have a whole lot of hoopla over this birthday, but we're at a weird number. It's not like 42 is a big milestone-type number, like 30, 35, or 40. I imagine we'll save most of the celebration for when we hit 45.

There's actually a really good reason why this date was a bit of an afterthought, and that is because the FMX Birthday Bash we approved is penciled in for August. Yes, that is a long way from January 18th, but should it come to bass, the band(s) are absolutely perfect.

We'd like to thank you again for your support. It means so much that you wake up with the RockShow, spend your workdays with Renee Raven, and enjoy FMX throughout the day and night. It's awesome that you download our app, come to see us on location, and take the time to spread the good word about the radio station.
