An officer spoke with the teller who dealing with the suspect, and said that while talking to her, she was "visibly upset and was crying." After taking a few minutes to gain her composure, she told the officer this:

The suspect came into the bank on Wednesday, February 24th, and approached her teller station. He then said something along the lines of "don't cause a scene" and demanded large bills. He then handed the teller a note, which "said something about her dying and that [the bank robber] wanted a certain amount of money."

After counting out the amount demanded and giving it to the suspect, he left.

KAMC News reports that officers recognized photos of the suspect as the same suspect in a robbery that happened at a local EZ Mart just one day before.

The suspect, who police identified as 59-year-old David Edward Chambliss, was located at the Extended Stay America in the 4800 block of South Loop 289 later that day. Chambliss was walking towards the building from the parking lot when officers detained him.

When he was arrested, an officer found on Chambliss a small plastic baggie with cocaine inside.

Chambliss remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on bonds totaling $30,000.
