The Emotional Rollercoaster of Waiting on a Package in Lubbock
It starts so simply.
You order something important online. Not something just "nice to have." No. Something actually important. You check the tracking once, see the estimated day of arrival, and think, "Sweet. Easy."
That was your first mistake.
On Day 1, you're nothing but optimistic and excited. Tracking says it will be here soon, and you believe it. You're not obsessively checking for it yet or anything, just casually refreshing the tracking app every couple of hours like a totally normal person. Things feel under control.

It's been a few days, and the tracking app now says the package is "out for delivery." You think to yourself, "Today is the day!" Suddenly, you have a whole new personality. You're now the kind of person who listens for every truck, door slam, or any sound outside of the norm that could be the delivery man. You're almost like a golden retriever or something.
Hours go by...and then they turn into days. You're in your window watching era. You're committed. You're peaking through the blinds like a crackhead. Every vehicle that drives down your street is being overanalyzed. Your spouse is starting to worry about you.
Next comes betrayal. The app still says it's "out for delivery." How long does it take to get to your damn house? What does out for delivery even mean? Are they ever bringing it? Is it lost in a warehouse somewhere?

Get ready for the emotional crash that always follows betrayal.
Suddenly, the app says "Delivery attempted" or even worse, "Delayed." You didn't hear a single knock or doorbell. You haven't left the house in 8 days. What do they mean they tried to deliver it? If it's delayed, for how long!?
Now, it's no longer about the package. Things get serious. It's about respect...or something. You check the tracking constantly and grumble to yourself. Guess you'll have to go without showering for a few more days and hope you don't wake up single.
Eventually, you'll reach acceptance. The package arrives or doesn't. Who cares anymore?
You've been humbled.
Waiting on a package to be delivered in Lubbock isn't so much a task as it is a test of patience, trust, and your ability to emotionally recover, whether it makes it to your house or not.
