Texas Country Star Mourns Family Lost in Deadly Hill Country Floods
Country singer Pat Green is among those mourning family members still missing after the devastating floods that hit central Texas last week. More than 100 people were killed in the flood, 27 of whom were children at a summer camp.
Missing Family
In an Instagram post on Monday, Green revealed his younger brother John, his sister in law Julia, and their two children were tragically swept away by floodwaters in Kerrville, calling it a "heartbreaking and deeply personal loss."
Support From Fans
Green and his family members are anxiously waiting for any news on the whereabouts of their loved ones. He postponed a concert last Sunday until mid-August. Green's Instagram account is filled with an outpouring of love, support, prayers, and well wishes from fans and fellow musicians.
Texas Pride is Real
One thing is clear- Texans are there for one another during times of sorrow. I've seen countless social media posts of people from far and wide showing up, cleaning up, and doing everything they can to lessen the burden of loss on the communities hit the hardest. It makes me incredibly proud to be a Texan.
A Reminder To Be Kind
I want to remind everyone to ignore comments online from people who don't understand Texas, or who want to use this tragedy to divide us all politically. This was an utter tragedy, plain and simple, and there is no need to bring that garbage into the conversation.
Hug Your Family
Please, take a moment to hug your families tighter tonight and tell them what they mean to you. You never know when tragedy will pull them away. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out ot all those affected by the horrible Texas Hill Country flooding.
