St. Joseph's Sausage Festival And Octoberfest is this weekend and it's definitely one the most awesome things to exist on the South Plains.

If you have time for a rootin' tuba-tootin' good time, take in Octoberfest with the crew this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you want to make the ultimate to-go order, pop by the bulk sausage sale from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Now, let's unpack this a bit. St. Joseph's Sausage Festival and Octoberfest have apparently been around for about 52 years (in one form or another). Each year they pack those sausages up for you to take to your house for preparation as you wish. The sausages come in three varieties, regular, jalapeno, and habanero (can we get a green chili-cheese guys?) all based on a 200-year-old recipe. I'm not going to lie, my real love affair with sausage started with samples brought by the radio station by some of the staff.

For those of you who want the next-level sausage experience, check out the Octoberfest party that happens after the bulk sales. There are all kinds of entertainment capped by a sausage dinner.  That's simplifying things a bit though because they also have German beer, wine, and other German food.

Now, if you are a smart person, you'll order your sausage in advance and then pick it up the day of the event. You can do that here. The group ALWAYS sells out of sausage and the demand is high, so reserve yourself some now. I can tell you from experience that it freezes up real nicely for use later.
