The part-time workers who had recently contracted to work the 2018 general election with Lubbock County are now receiving their paychecks. KFYO News has learned of one staffing company bouncing paychecks to at least three Lubbock County workers.

Lubbock County contracted with four different staffing companies for the general election, one of them being ITSQuest. The three election workers who had paychecks bounce all used ITSQuest.

On Monday, November 19th, Robert Pratt, host of Pratt on Texas, spoke with an employee of ITSQuest about the check-bouncing issue. He was told, "The owner of the company got with the bank and got [the issue] all cleared up." In addition, Pratt was told one of the affected workers, "... has come in to get a replacement check."

Pratt also spoke with Roxine Stinson, the chief deputy of the Lubbock County Elections Office. Stinson confirmed that some Lubbock County workers who used ITSQuest had their checks bounce, but she didn't have a specific number of workers affected. Nor a timetable of when replacement checks would be sent to the affected workers.  Also, no word on if part-timers who used one of the other three staffing companies had any issues with their paychecks.

The Lubbock County Elections Office uses part-time workers to man over 30 different vote centers for both early voting and Election Day. Many of the workers work during both early voting and on Election Day.

The new Commissioner's Court, which takes office in January 2019, will have the latitude to evaluate the contracts with the staffing companies used for Lubbock County Elections Office part-time workers.
