Texans need to take this little tip to heart.

Texas Homeowners Could Save Cash

I find the history of ceiling fans kind of interesting. I know that may sound the like the start of the most boring sentence ever, but it's not. There was a time back in the old days where ceiling fans were pretty much the only form of air conditioning. Then when other forms of air conditioning became available they went out of vogue. They then had a strong comeback when people started considering the energy savings, and the increased circulation of having one in addition to other forms of a/c.

Texans Need To Know This Secret

There is a secret to ceiling fans that not many people consider. Myself, I write about this topic twice a year, and I still haven't done this myself. I am hoping by letting Texans in on the secret, that I'll do it myself. It's simple, when the warmer weather hits, you want to make sure you ceiling fan turns counter-clockwise.

When your ceiling fan turns counter-clockwise, it pushed the air down and gives you a little breeze, resulting in a cooler feeling. Conversely when your ceiling fan is going clockwise, the warm air is pulled up and distributed through the room. So, if you haven't changed the direction of your ceiling fan, you may actually be making your house feel warmer.

Texans, Here's How To Change The Direction Of Your Ceiling Fan

It's easy to change the direction of your ceiling fan. First, wait until it comes to a full stop. Don't get impatient and stick your hands up slow the blades.  Next, almost all ceiling fans feature a little black switch that tips you off. In almost all cases, pull the switch down to go clockwise and pull the air down, and in the colder months push the switch up to pull the air up and redistribute the air around the room.

Texas Dust Loves To Collect On Ceiling Fans

I have one final tip for you. Changing the direction of your ceiling fan also frequently causes some of the dirt and dust that has collected on their to disperse and spread around the room. You may want to take just a moment to clean your ceiling fan blades.
