Someone in Texas is now very rich.
It's odd that having a million bucks in no longer a sign of being "rich", it's more a sign that you're nearing retirement and you may just have enough to get by until you die. Yup, having one million is not such a big deal. In order to truly be rich, you need may millions, like say, $20 million? Let's go with $20 million as a baseline for being rich.
Someone in Austin just joined the millionaire club by winning a $34-million-dollar jackpot. The winner, who chose to remain anonymous opted for a cash payout of $20 million. Of course, the government is going to want a piece of that, but I would think any smart and sane person would now have enough to live out the rest of their life with a few bucks in the bank. Then again, it's really easy to blow through this kind of money if you don't watch yourself.
So what would a Texan buy with say, $15 million? My guess is there is a lot of chicken-fried steak, barbeque, and Texas Longhorn swag on the shopping list. Of course, a true Texan would get a big truck with dual rear wheels and really nice rims. Then you simply MUST get a big Texas house with a huge yard for the dogs, maybe a stable for a horse, and boom...now all that money is gone.
Just in case you believe in luck and that it happens in streaks, the lucky Texan in question bought a quick-pick ticket on December 30th at a supermarket.
