If you’ve ever listened to our show, you already know—we’re not big fans of snitches. Yeah, that sounds a little rough around the edges, maybe even a little outlaw, but there’s a difference between protecting people and simply refusing to mind your own business.

There’s A Difference Between Helping And Tattling

Let’s be clear before anybody gets worked up. If someone’s getting hurt, if kids are in danger, or if there’s real criminal activity happening, you step up. No question. That’s not what this conversation is about.

This is about that strange gray area where people suddenly feel the need to report things that honestly don’t affect them at all. Somewhere along the way, a lot of folks stopped believing in “live and let live” and started acting like unpaid neighborhood surveillance officers.

Not everything requires a complaint, a phone call, or a social media post.

Marijuana Culture Changed A Lot Of Minds

A big part of this attitude goes back to marijuana culture in America. For decades, people were told marijuana would turn users into violent lunatics, dangerous criminals, or total burnouts. Then reality kicked in, and most people realized those claims were wildly exaggerated.

That created something bigger than just support for marijuana—it created distrust.

People started questioning the rules, the panic, and the people making the decisions in the first place. Whether you agree with marijuana use or not, there’s no denying that years of over-the-top fear campaigns made a lot of Americans skeptical of authority.

And honestly, that skepticism never really went away.

That’s why so many people roll their eyes when somebody starts trying to report every smell, smoke cloud, or suspicious gummy they come across.
