Chris Beard says it all the time: "The more aggressive team wins Big 12 games." That theory proved true Wednesday night as the Red Raiders bullied the West Virginia Mountaineers into submission in their 89-81 victory over Bob Huggins' bunch.

The officials called an interesting game, with 53 fouls whistled between the two teams, including four technical fouls in the second half. It was Texas Tech's offense, which has been underwhelming lately, that sparked the team tonight; three separate starters scored 20-plus.

Davide Moretti led the way with a career high 25, while Terrance Shannon Jr. and Jahmi'us Ramsey had 23 and 21, respectively. That's 69 of the Red Raiders' final 89 points from the talented trio.

Texas Tech was aggressive, at least more aggressive than the past few weeks, at finding their shot and taking it. All three of those big scorers took it to the rack, and Moretti and Ramsey were a combined 9 of 13 from behind the arc, too.

When you are aggressive to the basket in the motion offense, good things happen.

The Red Raiders also shot 28-32 from the free throw line tonight, which is a huge reason they won the game by a large margin.

Just watch these beautiful highlights:

Another way Texas Tech asserted themselves tonight was in their rebounding performance. They were trounced on the boards in Morgantown against this very same team earlier this month, but out-rebounded West Virginia 32-23 in this contest. Some of that had to do with foul trouble, but it mostly had to do with the Red Raiders being flat-out tougher than their opponents.

TJ Holyfield also showed flashes of what he can be for Texas Tech. Did he have five turnovers? Yes, but in between those he added four blocks and 11 points to the box score, and played really well for a long stretch in the second half allowing Texas Tech to hold onto and then stretch their lead back out.

The Red Raiders continue their brutal stretch of games against Kansas in Lawrence on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at 3 p.m.
