The Ride for Changes Returns to Lubbock to Benefit Local Veterans Organization
The Ride for Change hits the road again, this year raising money for various local veterans organizations across Texas and Oklahoma.
Chrissy Covington, one half of 94.5 FMX's The RockShow, will be hanging out at this year's event stops on Tuesday, May 3rd. Here's the current itinerary for The Ride for Change in Lubbock, Texas:
- Silver Bullet Restaurant, 5145 Aberdeen Ave. 9 - 10:30 a.m.
- Raider Flooring, 4815 50th Street, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- The Plaza Restaurant, 5029 Milwaukee Ave., 3 - 5 p.m.
When the Ride for Change roars into Lubbock, it will raise funds for Women Veterans of America, Hub City Chapter 53. Tammy J. Lowrey serves as the commander of the group.
According to their Facebook page, Women Veterans of America, Hub City Chapter 53 is a "non-profit group of veterans and active duty females dedicated to establishing a sisterhood in the Lubbock County area and passionate about assisting their community."
The group regularly does outreach to local veterans at events to help them get out of the house and engage with their communities. They focus on making sure their members' needs are being heard by the VA, regardless of whether they're active duty personnel or veterans. They have several members who're skilled at resume writing and submitting claims with the VA, and they also assist with bringing people to appointments, grocery shopping and more.
Women Veterans of America, Hub City Chapter 53 will be in attendance at the West Texas Salute to Veterans happening at the Silent Wings Museum (6202 North I-27) on Saturday, April 30th from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The free event for "all West Texas military, veterans, and their families who have served from WWII to the present day" will recognize local-area veterans, provide them with veteran resources, and provide food, entertainment and activities for their families.
