To celebrate National Teachers Appreciation Week, I took The RockShow on the road to visit a few Lubbock schools and thank a handful of great teachers who were nominated by our listeners.

With my cameraman, whom I affectionately call Germ Worm Justin, in tow, we first visited Evans Middle School to thank Amber Mitchell. Amber was actually nominated by several of our young listeners and deserves all the love and then some for putting up with mouthy middle-school students regularly.

Next, Germ Worm and I stopped by Bowie Elementary School to give 4th grade teacher Rachel Cervantez a little bag of goodies. This age group is so challenging for most people to tolerate so a huge thank you goes out to all of the Elementary school teachers for being patient with our kiddos.

And lastly, we thanked Jason Lusk, a special education teacher at Smylie Wilson Middle School, for all he does for his students. I heard through the grapevine (ahem, his wife, that is) that he is a rocker, so we gave him a couple tickets to see Buckcherry this month, along with some FMX t-shirts and some pencils because kids use the pencils!

I really can't say this enough: we appreciate ALL of the teachers in and around the Hub City, especially those who had to deal with me being in their classroom, particularly Mrs. Jobe and Mrs. Morris, who taught me at Frenship High School. What you do is never easy, even if it's infinitely rewarding. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and love for our children.
