What to Do and Eat in Post, Texas
I have made a number of visits to Post, Texas. I also frequently stop on my way to Austin. You could say I'm a little familiar with the town.
Post is about 40 to 45 minutes from Lubbock. It's a perfect stop when traveling and a very nice little drive just to get out of town. The road was more frequently used during "Old Mill Trade Days" but the town still has plenty to offer.
So, what do you do if you visit Post? I asked ChatGPT for "The Perfect Day In Post," and the Garza County Museum and a few scenic vistas for hiking were recommended. A lot of people will also tell you to visit Jackson Brothers Meats for their world-famous beef jerky.
Just for grins, I thought I'd check out the ratings for places to eat in Post, and I was very pleased to find out our friends at Smokin' Dick's Barbeque banged out a full five stars on Trip Advisor! We've experienced their amazing barbecue at least a half dozen times, and we totally agree.
Also knocking out five stars were the Post locations of Jack and Jill Donuts and Coffee Wizards. The Wagon BBQ was close behind at 4.9 stars, and Mooseknuckles Bar & Grill came in at 4.7 stars.
I must say that we've also heard very good things about Holly's Drive-In. Of course, all of these reviews are subjective, and since Post is a smaller town, some places don't get that many reviews. Plan a trip to Post and make sure you arrive hungry!
