LUBBOCK, Texas — On Thursday, United Supermarkets joins forces with Mrs Baird’s for the ninth year to celebrate the beginning of the Teachers on the Rise program — an effort by the two companies to recognize local teachers nominated for their work by students.

A photo and interview opportunity will be held at 10 a.m. at Cooper East Elementary School with past monthly winner Sarah Brewer, first-grade teacher. Brewer was one of several teachers nominated after schools shut down due to COVID-19.

She will share about her experience as a teacher and what it meant to be recognized through the Teachers on the Rise program. Also in attendance and available for interviews will be representatives from United Supermarkets and Mrs Baird’s.

Each month three teachers are recognized as outstanding educators—one from elementary, one teacher from middle school/junior high and one winning teacher from an area high school. Each winning teacher will receive a $100 gift card from United Supermarkets and lunch for two to the Texas Tech Club. Each student who nominates a winning teacher will also win a $50 American Express gift card from Mrs Baird’s.

The entry website can be found here: www.MrsBTeacher.com. For more information on the program and how it recognizes and supports the work of teachers in the community, make your way to the event on Thursday.
