I'm not here to pick a political side. I've kind of grown beyond that. I just want you to be aware that when these two sides fight, only the little guy loses.

All of our representatives still get paid when the government "shuts down". All of those congressmen, who are behaving like brats throwing a fit, are still getting paid.  Yep, important things are at stake, but this isn't how adults solve their problems.

We send politicians to Washington to negotiate for us, that's their whole job. We can't sit here and personally work a deal for a patch of highway, so we elect representatives. They are supposed to take our wishes to Washington, sort out the do-able ones and get stuff done.

Imagine if you called into work and told your boss, "I'm not coming to work until we get more soap in the bathroom". Do you think your boss would shut his business down until you backed down on your soapy demands? Nope. You'd be fired outright.

A clear timetable needs to be set up for times like these; if you can't get the job done, you forfeit your office and we'll bring in someone new to give it a try. At the very least, you shouldn't get paid.

*Please note that I always try to give credit where credit is due. Our Congressman Jodey Arrington has requested that his pay be withheld during this shutdown.
