Why “Pray For Rain?”

I'm still seeing the odd sign or billboard around town suggesting people "pray for rain."  Hmmm, maybe we can get that cancer thing prayed away first, or maybe even war before we add prayers for rain. Read more after the break.

I don't want to make fun of anyone's religious beliefs. They are, what they are, but as I've said before, if you "pray for rain" and believe your prayers led to it, then you personally owe me a car wash. On the east coast they are praying for the rain to stop. In Austin they are praying for the fires to stop. Maybe we should just all pray that everything is no longer so out of whack.

Recently I saw a bumper sticker that said "pray for our politicians." Now if God up and fixed them, then that would truly be a miracle. I also saw one that said "pray for our priests."  That one scares me. If the priests can't get a word in on their own behalf then we're all screwed.

I believe the rain will come, so let's direct our prayers and good vibes towards the elimination of disease, ignorance and war.  In the meantime, we can just water our lawns with a sprinkler or even just let them die out for a year.
