Lubbock On TV

Lubbock is far from the "sexiest" town in Texas. When talking about Texas the conversation usually leads to Dallas (Fort Worth), Houston, or Austin. San Antonio is frequently in the mix as are El Paso and Corpus Christi. It even seems like Amarillo gets more publicity than Lubbock, even though Lubbock is the #10 largest city in Texas while Amarillo comes in at #16. All of this is probably why we have a chip on our shoulder and perk up our ears when we get a mention on TV.

The Show

King Of The Hill debuted in January of 2009. The show had those of us who recognized our friend, relatives and neighbors in the show were rollin' with laughter. It wasn't until later on that we realized the rest of the country was laughing with us. On the third episode of that inaugural season, while the show was *RED HOT* Peggy visited Lubbock, Texas. The problem was that this was before online ordering was a thing, so Peggy had to travel to "Lubbock's Very Big Shoes"

Peggy's Feet

Peggy had a problem with shoe size in that one foot was a size 16 while the other was a size 16 1/2.  Lubbock was the only place she could outfit her. Later on, in season 11 Peggy was horrified to find out that the store had gone out of business and was now a bakery for dogs.

I could not find a clip of season 1, episode 3, but found this excellent clip about Peggy's feet in general.
