The city still has the time, means and ability to eject Victor Hernandez from the council. It could result in lawsuits either way. My take is simple: cut off the infected limb and deal with the fallout. More after the jump.

It looks like Victor Hernandez will continue as a Lubbock Councilman, and that is bad for Lubbock and politics in general.
In my opinion, Victor Hernandez has found the perfect bait and switch. If he can open up a can of worms over language, he can take the spotlight off the fact that he is a tax cheat. Now, it is documented that his taxes went unpaid for a long, long time
I am pissed. Evidently lots of our elected and appointed officials are tax cheats. It's embarrassing what happened yesterday. The city council wanted a ruling from a judge on whether Councilman Victor Hernandez should be removed from office because of his tax problems....then it was found out the city attorney had had similar problems. And lets not forget the Assistant City manager who has had problems something like 16 times. Keep reading for the rest of the story
