$15,000 Offered For Info Regarding Destroyed Bald Eagle Nest Near Dallas
Texas state and federal authorities are looking for information regarding the destruction of an active bald eagle nest last year near Dallas, and they are mean business. The Center for Biological Diversity has offered a $15,000 reward to whoever can lead them to the person responsible.
Ring any bells?
A Texas game warden noted two adult bald eagles had been using a nest on private property that was being developed into a subdivision after being alerted by a concerned citizen. Mere days later, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services confirmed the bald eagle nest to have been destroyed.
Bald eagles mate for life and continue using the same nest for years, building onto them over time. It's a lot like how we buy cheap homes and make improvements while building our families. Think of destroying a bald eagle's nest the way you would think of someone squashing your parent's house. Not cool.
It's unclear if baby eagle chicks were in the nest when it was destroyed, but what is clear, is that someone is a total jerk (and an idiot) for messing with a bald eagle nest, especially because they're protected under the Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, both of which are not to the effed with.
If you get caught wrecking a bald eagle nest, you're looking at a buttload of criminal penalties, maybe even prison time.
Do you think you might know who screwed with a bald eagle's nest in February of 2023? You could be $15,000 richer if you're brave enough to tell the truth. Someone knows something!
