I spent the weekend at Buffalo Springs Lake floating around on an innertube at my friend's daughter's birthday party. I noticed the spot where I distinctly remember there being water slides when I was a kid, but they have long since been removed. What exactly happened to those?

94.5 FMX reached out to a resident of Buffalo Springs Lake and asked what they knew about the water slides. They told us they believed they had been removed for insurance reasons. I'm sure a couple of kids probably hurt themselves from time to time on them, which could have been costly. I used to hear different rumors about what happened on those slides at school, but 9-year-olds aren't really a reliable source.

It was also sad when they got rid of different play equipment at our local schools when I was in 5th or 6th grade, but kids just kept breaking their arms. I guess I understand, but what a bummer. The slides at Buffalo Springs Lake were likely a similar scenario. It seems like we kind of bubble wrap up kids these days. It may not be a bad thing, but it sure does suck the fun out of stuff.

My favorite memories growing up usually had an element of danger to them, but a free slide into the lake totally beats paying for rental items from the Marina to entertain the kids.

Do you remember those slides? Or is it just me? Comment below or on our Facebook page, especially if you have a photo you'd like to share. I looked for days but couldn't find one anywhere.
