I've been a Resident Evil fan for a hot minute now.

It's one of my favorite video game series ever. I've been playing Resident Evil since I was a child (which I know doesn't say much since I'm not that old at 23, but still). My first was Resident Evil 4 on the Wii. I must've first played it when I was around 12 years old or so. Holy crap, did I love that game.

I was hesitant at first since I heard it was a horror game and didn't know if it'd be too scary for me, but I took a shot with it and it's still one of my favorite games ever. I didn't really understand the lore, but I didn't care. I beat it and wanted more. I wanted something scary.

So along came the Resident Evil Remake, which I just call REmake. It's gotta be in my top 3 games of all time. I adore everything about that game. Its atmosphere is unmatched, it's scary, it's tense, it's gorgeous, and I just love it. That game cemented my love for the series, so of COURSE I'm pumped for Resident Evil Village.

High Hopes for Capcom

Capcom has been killing it lately, with Resident Evil VII releasing in 2017 and blowing us all away. Then, of course, Resident Evil 2 got remade, and I don't know if Capcom could've done much of a better job. The Resident Evil 3 remake was OK, but still good.

I know a lot of people are pumped for Village, and it's not just Resident Evil fans. Have you seen the tall vampire lady?

ALCINA DIMITRESCU

If you spend any time on the internet, I'm sure you're familiar with this skyscraper of a woman. She's everywhere, and honestly? I get it. Just look at her.

She's like 9-feet-tall, guys. Lady Dimitrescu's presence alone has piqued the interest of people who didn't really care about Resident Evil that much, so for that alone I'm grateful for her existence. Look at how excited people are just to find her model in the demo files:

As for what her story is? I don't know. She has to be some kind of conscious Tyrant, right? She's gigantic, has claws and white skin, so it gives me heavy Tyrant/Mr. X/Nemesis vibes. That's the gameplay role she's filling anyway.

And what's the deal with Chris Redfield? And The Duke? There are so many things I can't wait to learn while playing.

If You Want To Jump In

So, if you're in the crowd of people who never really got into Resident Evil but now know about tall lady, welcome aboard. I'd probably play through Resident Evil VII before jumping into Village, since it's a direct sequel and the game before it isn't tied that much with the other games. It's also just a great game, so you're doing yourself a disservice by not playing it.

However, if you've already played the other games, or you just don't care and want to play Village first, it comes out Friday, May 7th, which is very soon. Y'all know I'm gonna be all over this game when it's out. Will you? Let us know on the FMX Facebook page. I'd seriously love to hear from other fans.
