September 19th has been known as National Talk Like a Pirate Day since 2002 according to the website, TalkLikeAPirate.com. Also, according to the website, pirates are responsible for having discovered guacamole sometime around 1679. So, there's a random pirate fact you may use while reminding your maties that it's National Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Speaking of talking like a pirate, I know that it can be a divisive topic here in Red Raider country, but I can't avoid hearing the word "pirate" and instantly thinking of one of my most favorite pirate fanatics, former Texas Tech Football coach, Mike Leach.

If you haven't read Coach Leach's book, Swing Your Sword, you are truly missing an opportunity for a great read and most certainly some gut exercising giggles. Nobody in recent memory with such notoriety embraces the 'I live by my own code' attitude than Mike Leach, and I couldn't be more of a fan of his way of telling stories.
