If you are looking for something different to do with the family this weekend you should go check out the Lubbock Arts Festival.

The Festival kicked off this week and since we had some free time this morning(granted it took a little gentle encouragement) I got up this morning and went to check it out.

I was pleasantly surprised...it's not just the regular "arts" sort of stuff I expected to see, but jewlery, wood working, glass art, AND FOOD!

Probably the coolest thing was the booth set up right as you enter through the main door. It is filled with bright, colorful, modern paintings, by probably the youngest artist out there. As we checked out the painting, the young artist was more than happy to answer all of our questions, he even posed for pictures. Very cool, down to earth, personable  guy!

If you get the chance, get out to the Lubbock Civic Center this weekend and check out the Arts Festival and be sure to stop by and check out this guys art exhibit. You may recognize him as former Texas Tech running back (and current Pittsburgh Steeler) Baron Batch.

The Festival is this weekend (April 12-14, 2013) at the Lubbock Civic Center (1501 Mac Davis Lane). Tickets are $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for kids under 12. Hours are, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 8p.m. and Sunday 12p.m. to 5p.m
