I’d like to personally thank Bob Kevoian for his service to FMX and the role he played in shaping mornings for so many listeners.

I recently shared a note of gratitude on my personal page about the people who helped build FMX. Here's how it went:

At the heart of it, FMX has been #1 where it matters—from the last book with Heathen, through Kelly, and now with Chrissy. Renee continues to anchor the workday, and Maggie Meadows is an absolute pleasure to work with. The station stands on the shoulders of incredible talent—Heathen, Kelly, Chrissy, Renee, Bo Jagger, Bobby Trebor, Cincy Stephens, Perry, Greg Stone (Uncle Nasty), The Morning Circus, Loris Lowe, Dale Dudley, Ron Newsome, Just Jesse, Driver, The RockDoctor, Natalie, Nat Lamp, Jacqui Neal, and many more. And of course, what I consider the core team—Kidd Manning, Michael X-Ray, Crow, and Psycho Cyd—helped define what FMX became.

I’ll admit something I initially overlooked: the syndicated shows. Programs like The Bob & Tom Show, Loudwire Nights, Hard Drive, and older shows like Flashback all played important roles in keeping the station strong and consistent.

When we decided to end the Jacqui & Wes show, I was burned out. After years of doing mornings with Jacqui, Russ Dealy, Johnny Walker, Dale Dudley (The Breakfast Flakes), and even as part of the X-Men with Jim Arnold in Spokane, it had been a long run. The era of Bob & Tom came at the right time—a reset. Their show delivered humor, relevance, and a reliable start to the day when it was needed most.

Eventually, it was time to bring more local flavor back, which led to the creation of The RockShow. But that doesn’t take away from what Bob & Tom—and especially Bob Kevoian—meant to FMX and the Lubbock audience.

Honoring Bob Kevoian’s Impact on FMX and Lubbock Mornings

Bob officially stepped away from the show in 2015, and with it, a piece of that original magic went with him. He passed away on April 17 after a three-year battle with stomach cancer. Others will speak to his broader legacy, but here in the Hub City, he was part of our mornings for a long time—and for that, he deserves a simple, heartfelt thank you.
