An exciting new dining concept has recently opened in Slaton. It combines tapas with an extensive wine menu, beers, and a cigar bar.

Thus the name The Combine- Commons On The Square. It is located at 136 W Garza Street in a beautiful historic building. I think the name might also be an homage to our area's tradition of cotton farming.

The Combine opened to the public on Saturday, December 7th with a ribbon cutting.

Currently, cigar smoking is limited to the patio but they are working on getting the upstairs area ready for indoor enjoyment.

I am already impressed with The Combine, as they have an exciting and interesting mocktail menu and plenty of non-alcoholic beer options, in addition to alcoholic drinks.

Having mocktails is something every place can and should do, but most won't out of thoughtlessness. Folks who don't like or can't drink alcohol still like to have something fun to sip on.

The Combine has its full menu posted on its Facebook Page (we also love that!) and it includes charcuterie boards, delicious-sounding dips, flatbreads, wedge salads, and desserts. The wine menu is a page long with fair prices for glasses and bottles.

I think this is a good reminder to Lubbockites to explore just a little more. Depending on where you live in Lubbock, Slaton is only minutes away. I know I'm happy to make the drive each year for the Banana Pudding Festival!

Our surrounding areas are full of fun, quirky, and cool places, and who doesn't enjoy a little day trip? The Combine might be the perfect reason to enjoy the drive, and then enjoy the unique experience they have to offer.
