Lubbock is getting a Dick's House of Sport, and if you didn't know better, you may think it's just another sporting goods store (that's what I thought). However, there's much more in store for Lubbock with this incoming concept.

What Is A Dick's House Of Sport?

A Dick's House of Sport is much bigger and more interactive than a regular Dick's Sporting Goods.

In addition to being a sporting goods store, Dick's House of Sport also provides interactive spaces for sports practice and community gathering. Depending on the location, Dick's House of Sport can have: rock walls, multi-sport cages for baseball, soccer, etc., outdoor track and field areas, and even ice rinks (although ice rinks seem to be exclusive to New York and Pennsylvania). There are also golf pro shop areas with interactive elements and something called "House of Cleats."

Based on filed permits, we do know that the Lubbock location is planned to have an outdoor track and field area. I do not think we will get an ice skating rink but the rest seems quite possible.

Where Will Dick's House of Sport Be?

According to permits, Dick's House of Sport will be located in the South Plains Mall in the former location of the women's Dillard's- so tons of space, including a second story.

South Plains Mall Is Leading The Way

While other malls are floundering, South Plains Mall is innovating. Over the years, SP Mall has adapted to our community's needs by adding Premiere Cinema and the satellite restaurants like Uncle Julio's. Now, Crunch Fitness is relocating to the mall, and we are getting this exciting new sports concept, keeping SP Mall a destination for Lubbock and the surrounding areas.

Nostalgic South Plains Mall Food Lubbock Folks Want Back Immediately

The South Plains Mall has some amazing food options both inside and around the building. But that doesn't keep us from missing some bygone places from when we were kids in the 70s, 80s, 90s or 2000s!
