The holiday season is here, and I've been missing my grandparents. They grew up in Lubbock, Texas, and were both school teachers and really special people. My grandmother was an excellent cook and we ate lunch at her house nearly every Sunday after church. When I was little, I would hang out in the kitchen and watch her cook all of our favorites. She would always let me lick the spoon, as evident in the photo above.

Unfortunately, as an adult, I've never been able to make them taste the way she did, which is a total bummer.
