The Fourth of July has come and gone and now we're stuck in the middle of the summer, which can only mean one thing. Spooky season is upon us.

You read that right. We have to get ready for Halloween...in July. As someone who loves Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos, which is not Mexican Halloween, it's only right to get the bats, candles and ofrenda ready. Sometimes during spooky season, some things will pile up and they don't fit in well with the rest of the décor. So what can you do? Throw a haunted garage sale. Duh!

On July 23rd, 2022 (the day after my birthday), CASP Studio C (408 Ave. J) will be hosting the first-ever haunted garage sale in Lubbock. That means there will be people who don't have the room for any new spooky season items selling some great secondhand decorations and memorabilia before Lubbock stores can start selling this year's Halloween items. It does feel like the stores sometimes skip over spooky all together and go right for Christmas as soon as they can.

While you scrounge around at the Haunted Garage Sale looking for an Elvira Mistress of the Dark poster (which I am), you can also check out an art exhibit featuring pieces from 9 local artists. This isn't just any art exhibit, but operated in conjunction with the theme of the event. It will be a true horror art exhibit to get you in that haunted summer mood. Another part of summer is the burgers. Nirvana Burger will be out at the event selling food and cold drinks to bring you back to life while you thrift through some undead fun.

This event is being hosted by Raicodoll and London Blue Accessories. No word if anything will actually be haunted, but this event is free to the public. The garage sale will take place between 5 - 10 p.m. More information and updates can be found on the event's official Facebook page.
