Is It Legal To Hunt For Bears In Texas?
Are you tired of hunting wimpy deer and doves?
Man Versus Bear
Maybe you're ready to challenge yourself and take on a 300-pound bear. It's your dream to go mana-tu-bear in combat or take out one of these razor-toothed monsters from a safe distance. Then again, maybe all you want is a giant bear trophy to put in your living room like The Addams Family. Whatever your reasons, we're hear to tell you the bare essentials you need to know about hunting bears.
Sorry To Disappoint
You are not allowed to hunt bears in Texas (Ah mom, but I really wanted to hunt bears!). Tough luck Texans, bears are protected species in the Lone Star States. You may not hunt, harass, or kill bears. In short, Texas says to leave the bears alone (I will have to admit I'm intrigued by the idea of "harassing bears" because I feel like that's a sport I'd love to watch on t.v.).
Bears Bounce Back
The bear population is increasing, mostly in east and southwest Texas due to conservation efforts (Like, you know...not allowing you to hunt them). Most bears should never be a problem to you. Though you think they're out there running wild and munching down on smaller members of the animal kingdom, they prefer nuts, fruits, and berries and get most of their protein from insects. Also, despite the highly realistic pictures in this article, most bears do not have the right, or the ability to bare arms.
