It’s Election Day, Take It Easy Out There
I don't care whether you are on the Trump Train or Ridin' With Biden. You have to remember that both sides want to make this a "life-or-death" election because they want to spur you to vote. Is it "life or death"? I'll leave that for you to decide, but in most cases, it's not.
A lot of people are concerned about election day/night violence. I'm not going to say it isn't going to happen, but it's unlikely to happen here. Let me also say that any of that nonsense will not change any of the results. If you're unhappy about the results, leave our Target stores alone and go write a stern letter to your congressman.
Most of all, I just want you to not freak out. No matter what happens, some people are going to lose their minds. And why? I don't think there are too many people in Washington D.C. that would lose their minds over your election as PTA president, so it's best to just say, 'huh, I guess this is the road we're on' and move on.
None of this is to minimize the importance of voting. As a matter of fact, I'm hoping for a landslide either way. I just want to know the direction we're going so I can strap in and get ready for the ride.
I would also tell you that staying up and monitoring the vote, minute-by-minute, is a waste of minutes and minutes. Once again, nothing you do is going to change things, so you might as well get a good night of sleep and be prepared to deal with the outcome on Wednesday morning (or later, if that's what it takes).
Happy Election Day, America. Let's get this done!
