According to Explore Texas, Terlingua was once a bustling town powered by mercury mining in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The town saw a decline after World War II as mining jobs dried up, and residents moved away in search of better opportunities. Left behind were structures, including St. Agnes Church. Terlingua, with its silent streets and ghostly buildings, quickly became a hotspot for hauntings and supernatural sightings.

St. Agnes Church, with its cracked walls and worn-out exterior, is the center of many of these ghostly encounters. Legends speak of shadowy figures seen inside the church late at night, spooky voices echoing through its halls, and an unexplained chill that sometimes follows visitors.

Some believe these paranormal activities are the souls of miners who met their end, while others think they might be spirits of settlers from the older days. Eerie lights, hymns sung by invisible choirs, and mysterious footprints are just some of the activities associated with this haunted place.
