If you've spent any amount of time around Lubbock, you already know two things.

First, Buffalo Springs Lake is where countless West Texas summer memories are made.

Second, if something funny, wild, or just plain "806" happens, there's a pretty good chance The806er is going to hear about it.

Now, those two local favorites have officially crossed paths in the funniest way possible.

Buffalo Springs Lake Gets In On The Joke

Visitors pulling into Buffalo Springs Lake are now greeted with a message on the electronic sign near the brand-new buffalo statues and waterfall entrance.

As a resident of the lake, I noticed it when I was pulling out of the entrance to head to work this morning. Instead of the old saying, "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas," the sign had a much more Lubbock-friendly version:

"What Happens At The Lake Ends Up On The806er."

I laughed out loud.

Honestly, that's about as accurate as it gets.

If You Know... You Know

Buffalo Springs Lake has always been one of those places where stories are born.

It's where families gather for cookouts, friends spend weekends on the water, kids catch their first fish, and someone inevitably attempts something they probably shouldn't behind the controls of a jet ski.

Throw in camping trips, Fourth of July celebrations, concerts, fishing tournaments, off-road events, boat rides, and enough summer adventures to fill an entire Facebook feed, and you've got a recipe for memories.

Or...viral videos.

The806er Has Become Part Of West Texas Culture

Over the past few years, The806er has become one of the fastest-growing social media platforms dedicated to life in Lubbock. Or as some locals lovingly call it, 'the 806'.

Whether it's breaking local news, community events, funny videos, local businesses, sports, or those classic "only in West Texas" moments, chances are you've seen a post shared by someone you know.

That's what makes Buffalo Springs Lake's sign so perfect.

It isn't just a funny message, it recognizes something that's become part of everyday life around here.

When something memorable happens, people don't just tell their neighbors anymore.

They send it to The806er.

I, on the other hand, post my embarrassing behavior on my personal Facebook page all thg time! Kinda like this video from this past Sunday:

Buffalo Springs Lake Knows Its Audience

One thing Buffalo Springs Lake has always done well is embrace the community.

It's not just a place to swim, fish, boat, camp, or watch national jet ski races. It's where Lubbock comes together during the summer.

This playful shoutout proves they understand exactly who their visitors are and how West Texans communicate these days.

So hats off to Buffalo Springs Lake for the laugh...and for showing some hometown love.

Just remember this summer: if you're heading to the lake, have fun, and be safe...

Because apparently around here, what happens at the lake doesn't stay at the lake.

It ends up on The806er.
