Former Texas Tech All-American Athlete Takes Home Medal at World Championships
A former Texas Tech athlete Monae’ Nichols took home a silver medal in the World Athletics Indoor Championships for the long jump category.
She took the silver medal in the women's long jump Sunday at the indoor World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
Nichols achieved a jump of 6.83/22-3.5 in the final round of the women’s long jump, getting beat by Tara Davis-Woodhall, the former Big 12 and NCAA champion with Texas, who put up the fifth-best jump in U.S. indoor history, with 7.07/23-2.5 to take home the gold.
Texas Tech is set to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships Thursday-Saturday in Boston.
