Wednesday was a mild day for those of us in and around Lubbock. High's were generally in the 50's and cloudy weather gave way to sunny skies later in the day. On Thursday, that is all set to change.

According to the National Weather Service, big changes are in store Thursday morning for the South Plains and Southern Texas Panhandle. There is a chance of dense fog in the morning  and even freezing fog according to Lubbock County's Emergency Management Office.

While most areas will not see snow, there is a chance of accumulating snow in the southern Texas Panhandle. As of 3:30pm on Wednesday, the National Weather Service shows the possibility of snow showers around Muleshoe and Dimmitt, with higher accumulations further north. This could change though by Thursday morning and the line of snow showers could slip further south.

Lubbock and the South Plains should be in line to get rain showers throughout the day on Thursday and Thursday evening. High temperatures on Thursday for our area will range from the upper 30's to upper 40's.

The Lubbock County Emergency Management Facebook page issued a Special Weather Statement on Wednesday addressing Thursday's weather.

We will keep you updated with any winter weather related news.
