KLBK did such an amazing job commemorating the lives of some of those we lost, that I wanted to make sure you see it.

I'm going to warn you straight-up to have a tissue ready and settle in for this video tribute to those people taken from us by COVID-19. Seeing the faces of our friends Sausage Jon and Bam Bam was absolutely crushing, but necessary.

The Lubbock COVID-19 dashboard sat at 720 people dead of COVID-19 as of Thursday, March 18th at 12:45, and it's sure to continue to rise. That number is horrific, and it's worse when you see the faces behind the numbers.

I know there are still people who deny the coronavirus' effects and the death count itself, but even if it was 120 people instead of 720, it would be too many. Just think -- every one of these people probably had a family group of four people, an extended family of 30 people and 50 friends. Even with a very, very conservative formula like that, you can see how many people are impacted by the loss of each of these individuals.

The KLBK team obviously did a lot of work putting together this memorial, and they should be applauded for the dignity and respect that they built into this video tribute.

It is heartbreaking that the coronavirus is not done with us yet. We need people to get vaccinated and continue to behave as safely as possible to minimize the chance of additional spread. I hope you'll take a look at some of these faces and think about the families they left behind.
