Legendary and Loaded: The Lubbock Burrito That Never Disappoints
There are so many great places to get breakfast burritos in Lubbock, but one reigns supreme in my book. The burritos are massive, inexpensive, and downright delicious. They've been around for a million years. There's a reason their parking lot is always packed with patrons in the morning- it's that dang good.
Can you guess the restaurant I'm referring to?
Here's another hint: It's on 34th Street, and the building stands out among others. It's bright green...
Figured it out yet?
Yes?
PICANTES!
In high school, my buddies would generate a buzz first thing in the morning that we'd all be meeting up in the parking lot to head over to Picantes for lunch. We'd all daydream about those cheap, HUGE burritos until they met our lips at noon. Sweet release!
The prices were awesome. I could barely squeeze 4 or 5 dollars out of my mom to buy lunch off-campus most of the time. I was always amazed at how far the money got me at Picantes. I'd be full for the rest of the school day off of one burrito I could barely even finish.
In 2025, you can still get a BIG burrito for less than 4 bucks and an even BIGGER one for less than 5! The price vs. quantity AND quality is simply unmatched in the 806.
I branched out and started getting the breakfast quesadilla a few years ago, and now it's my favorite thing on the menu. It goes HARD, dude.
I just wanted to remind you to go grab some Picantes today, especially if you haven't been in a while. It's exactly how you remember it. No fuss. No frills. Excellent food. Kind employees. I friggin' love Picantes.
I think I hear a breakfast burrito calling my name right now. Save me a seat! I'll meet ya there.
