Let’s Give it Up For Mayor Tom Martin

It wasn't that long ago that Lubbock looked like it was on the expressway to crazy town. Our new Mayor's steady hand has corrected the course and Lubbock is once again a great place to call home.

No matter who you are, you're going to make some decisions that are unpopular with some.  The ability to please most of the people most of the time is a carefully crafted skill and out Mayor has it perfected. He doesn't swing far right or left preferring to keep a steady course with no rash decisions or declarations.

So why the mayoral butt-kissing?  I just thought it was about time to "review" where we are compared to where we were just a few years ago. It was downright EMBARRASSING to live in Lubbock under the previous administration.  That administration got me crosswise with cops, councilmen and many others who I regularly support. I try not to ever forget the sacrifices that public servants of all types make. I know what it's like to be hated for one decision people don't agree with when you make a thousand decisions they love. Let's all remember not to lump our local guys in with the national guys.  Our local guys are "getting it done" and you can see it around town. Lubbock is still a clean and pretty crime-free place to live.
