An Open Letter of Congratulations to Lubbock
Hey Lubbock,
We asked a simple question on The RockShow today: “What should we congratulate you for?” And y’all answered in a way that stuck with me.
Some of you are fighting battles that don’t come with applause.
Getting sober. Staying sober. Taking it one day at a time when one day feels like a lot. That’s not small. That’s not “just trying.” That’s strength in its rawest form, and you are a total badass.
Some of you are doing the quiet kind of hard, like not texting your ex, even when everything in you wants to. Choosing peace over chaos. Growth over comfort. That deserves a standing ovation, even if nobody else sees it.
Some of you are grinding it out in all kinds of ways. Finishing school, going back to school, trying to build something better than what you started with. Showing up when it would be easier not to. That counts more than you think.
And then there are the wins that don’t make headlines but still matter, like holding your temper, showing up to work, taking care of your kids, paying your bills, and keeping your head above water in a world that doesn’t always make it easy.

When we read through your responses, it hit me. There’s a whole town full of people quietly doing their best.
So this is for you.
Whether your victory is big, small, messy, ongoing, or just barely holding together… good job. Seriously. You’re doing something hard, and you’re still here doing it.
Lubbock, we see you.
Keep going. You got this.
